ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS/EVALUATION
Master of Science Degree
The department adheres to guidelines and procedures for admission and enrollment outlined by the Department of Occupational Therapy, Division of Allied Health Sciences, and Howard University. Admission consideration may be granted to applicants who satisfy all admissions criteria. Criteria for admission to the OT master’s degree program include:

• BS degree from an accredited university or college;
• Cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale;
• Completion of required prerequisite courses;
• Verification of 30 hours of volunteer experience in an Occupational Therapy setting;
• Completion of the Howard University application;
• Completion of the OT Department application; and
• Participation in a personal interview.

Candidates seeking a Master of Science degree may be admitted from one of three sources: 1) Howard University graduates with the BS degree in Occupational Therapy; 2) students who have a Baccalaureate degree from any program and who complete the required prerequisites; and 3) graduates of any OT program who are registered occupational therapists with the BS degree.

Health Science Degree Students (see below):
Health Science Degree Students (Combined BSHS/MS) Undergraduate students enrolled at Howard University can complete a Bachelors of Science (BS) in Health Sciences and complete the prerequisites for the Master of Science degree program in occupational therapy in a combined BSHS/MS curriculum. High school students wishing to enroll in Howard University should complete the Howard University undergraduate application. Undergraduate students must have at least a cumulative GPA of 2.8 for entry as a Health Science Degree student. Acceptance as a Health Science degree student does not automatically guarantee acceptance to the Master of Science program. Undergraduate students interested in pursuing a Master of Science degree also apply for early graduate admissions consideration to the MSOT program. Undergraduate students receiving early admissions to the MSOT program complete credit hours towards the MSOT degree. Undergraduate transfer students are welcome to apply.
