Summer Enrichment Program and RecruitmentThe Center of Excellence (COE) has unique recruitment initiatives, which are designed to increase the number of viable, competitive African American and Hispanic students applying for admission to the health professions programs in the CPNAHS at Howard University. The Center of Excellence recruitment initiatives has partnership agreements with two high schools and two community colleges. The partnership institutions Eastern Senior High; Margaret Murray Washington Senior High; Northern Virginia Community College and Montgomery County Community College are located in Washington, D.C., Maryland and Virginia area. The Center of Excellence three Summer Enrichments Programs:
Selection for the summer program is a competitive process where students who have a background in selecting mathematics and science courses, and have evolved strong GPA’s will be chosen to participate. Preference will be given to those students who have an interest in a health profession as a career; have taken significant mathematics, science and communication subjects; interview well; and write a clear and concise 300-word essay on why they wish to enter a particular health career.
