Socialization to Success in
Nursing Project
The Socialization to Success in Nursing
(SOS) Project is a funded Nursing Workforce Diversity initiative.(
DHHS, HRSA, BHPr, D19HP40453). The SOS Project, is in the 6th
and final year of funding.
The primary objective of the SOS Project
is to expose disadvantaged and underrepresented minority high
school students to the exciting world of professional nursing
and offer them opportunities to participate in various activities
that are designed to inspire them to pursue a career in nursing.
The SOS Project will host 4 programs during the 2007-2008 school
year. However, only two of the programs will be accepting applications,
the Saturday Nursing Academy (SNA) and the Summer Nursing Immersion
Program (SNIP). The SNA is for 11th and 12th grade students
and it meets one Saturday each month from September-April, 10:00
a.m.-2:00 p.m. Applications are currently available.
SNIP is a residential program for senior
students, who live in the DC metropolitan area. It is tentatively
scheduled to be held June 2, 2008-June 27, 2008. Applications
will be available in December 2007.
