ADVISEMENT/REGISTRATION

Advisor/advisee assignments are posted on the bulletin board in the Student Affairs area and the Undergraduate bulletin board on the second floor. All students should meet with their advisor a minimum of 2 times each academic year. Students should contact the Office of Student Affairs (OSA) until an advisor has been assigned.

Advisement is mandatory and all students should consult with their advisors prior to participation in general registration (GR) for the next semester in order to receive a registration pin number. The advisement period generally starts two weeks prior to the course registration period. The OSA will not give a student their pin number without written authorization from the student’s advisor.

Students on academic probation may be required to schedule frequent advisement sessions with their advisor and only register for a limited number of credits.

Course registration and changes associated with registration are processed via BisonWeb during the registration period. Signed override cards or signed course schedule printouts should be left in the OSA. Consult the University calendar in the Student Directory and Manual of Classes for the advisement period, registration and other significant dates.

Participation in GR is mandatory. Students who fail to register during this time period will incur a $150 LATE REGISTRATION FEE.

COURSE WITHDRAWAL

Students must formally withdraw from or drop courses within the official drop dates by completing the appropriate forms and obtaining the required signatures. NON-ATTENDANCE at class does not result in a drop or withdrawal status. Students will receive a letter grade of “F” for non-attendance/failure to participate. Depending on the date of withdrawal, student’s academic record may reflect a “W” and the date the withdrawal took effect.
9.
TOTAL WITHDRAWAL

If a student withdraws from ALL courses in a semester, total withdrawal procedures must be followed. Total Withdrawal forms and written procedures are available in Student Affairs. A Total Withdrawal form must be completed and the necessary signatures submitted to the Office of Enrollment Management in the Administration Building.
10.
COURSE REPEATS

An undergraduate student may repeat only once a course for which he/she has received a grade of “D” or “F”. The lower grade will not be counted in the computation of the GPA. In all course repeats, the failing or previous grade is not expunged from the academic record.
