The purpose of this study is to explore the perceptions and experiences of black women in transition to menopause. Menopausal symptoms and midlife health risk management strategies used by urban black women will be assessed. This study will also explore health risks black women associate with midlife, such as cardiovascular disease and osteoporosis.

The purpose of this study is to determine the colorectal cancer knowledge, perceptions and screening barriers of African Americans age 50 and above. This study will further determine the extent to which screening may be attributed to demographic, sociopsychological, and structural variables.

The purpose of this study is to describe self-efficacy outcome expectancies, locus of control and self-management and glycemic control in African American women with T2DM. This study will also determine the relationships among self-efficacy, locus of control and self- management.

The purpose of this study is to determine the affects of Social Skills Training (SST) in increasing resiliency and decreasing disruptive behavior in youth. Youth participants will be assessed, treated and evaluated in an after school program to evaluate behavior change and learning. This intervention seeks to break the cycle of risk-taking behaviors in pre adolescent youth.

This purpose of this study is to build on and extend upon past work by addressing factors related to the decision to seek treatment following diagnosis and the possible reasons for delay in initiating treatment by African American women with breast cancer.
