Non-Traditional Pharm. D. Degree Program (NTDP)
Admission
Pharmacy graduates with either: 1) a B.S. degree from an ACPE accredited program who have passed the North America Pharmacy Licensing Examination (NAPLEX) and a State Board Licensure examination; or 2) a Foreign Pharmacy Graduates Equivalence Examination (FPGEE) Certificate who have passed the NAPLEX and a State Board Licensure examination, may apply for admission to the Non-Traditional Pharm.D. degree programs. A minimum of two years of residence in the program is required . Applicants should mail the following documents to Howard University School of Pharmacy, Office of Student Affairs, 2300 Fourth Street NW, Washington, DC 20059:

Only completed application packets will be considered.

To be considered, all applicants are required to submit the following:

  1. Two letters of recommendation (forms enclosed).
  2. A letter of Career Plan/Statement of Goals ( 800-1000 typed words).
  3. Two passport size photographs (taken in past 3-6 months).
  4. Applicant must successfully complete an interview prior to being admitted to the program.
  5. A supplemental Application Fee of $45.00 (Money Order or Cashier’s Check (NO personal check) payable to Howard University.

In addition:

A - Current U.S. Pharmacist License holder must provide:

  1. Notarized photocopy of current pharmacy license.

B - All other applicants must provide:

  1. An official transcript from an accredited pharmacy school indicating years of enrollment and degree awarded.
  2. Notarized photocopy of Diploma awarded.
  3. Notarized photocopy of current pharmacy license.

The complete application packet must be received no later than February 1 of the year the student is seeking admission.

It is the applicant’s responsibility to ensure that complete packet have been received, not simply sent to the School of Pharmacy, Office of Admissions.

It is suggested using services such as registered mail, or an overnight service which provides tracking services in the event that application packet is lost or delayed.

Curriculum
The Non-Traditional Post-Baccalaureate Pharm.D. degree programs provide registered pharmacists with the knowledge and skills of current diagnostics methods, treatment modalities, drug delivery systems, therapeutic outcomes, pharmacoeconomics, and pharmacotherapy to meet the rapid changes in the health care system. The Non-Traditional Post-Baccalaureate Pharm.D. degree curriculum involves two years of studies in a distance education format (See Table 2).
